My Dream Vacation To HIMALAYA : Paradise On Earth

This post is a part of the Himalayan Dream contest by GIO Adventures: India'sPremier Adventure & Outdoors Travel Specialists since 1999.

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” – Jawaharlal Nehru

Why Himalaya would be a dream vacation…

No one may be wondering why I would ever want to go to The Himalayas, I think any common man’s dream vacation can be a Himalayan trip. Because this is the place that is considered as a typical dream vacation!

Nothing is quite so special as the Himalayas

As I grew up, I had dreams like most. Seeing the snow-capped peaks of Switzerland topped the list, plus deserts, pyramids, Eiffel Tower and what not! In fact so much so that, I thought India had no marvels so to speak. But I come to know that there’s so much to see here.

I know the whole world is so beautiful but my priorities are different. I want to climb mountains, conquer nature and to my astonishment I found that they are right here, right next to me, in my own country!

I literally want to live up to the saying "Journey is the Destination".

From stretching to Jammu and Kashmir in the northwest near the Pakistan border, and all the way east through Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, West Bengal, and Sikkim, there is hardly anything in the world that can rival Himalaya’s grandeur

It might take me a while to prepare for something like the vacation in the Himalayas, but that is why it is a dream for me. A destination only accessible to the most intrepid of mountaineers, explorers and adventure enthusiasts. It will be more than just a dream vacation. The emotions I will feel. The beauty I will see. The people I will meet. The adventure I will have. There will be nothing like it.

I dream of jumping onto a Royal Enfield and exploring the Himalayas, the Rajputana deserts and a trek to Maenam peak. I dream of riding through the stretches of terraced paddy fields and camping along Teesta River at Siriwani. Spending a night in tent encompassed by nature has a different feeling altogether.

But do not confound my self-drive safari with my fear for climbing. I also wish to reach the highest summits in Himalayas as well as ski on its splendid snow-clad mountains. The intricacies offered by this

Being a foodie has its own delights on any adventure. I would love to savour the Himalayan cuisine once in my lifetime. Dal-bhat-tarkari is the standard meal eaten twice daily.

Momos - Tibetan style dumplings with Nepali spices — are one of the most popular foods in Nepal.

Kashmiri Noon Chai

Kashmiri Noon Chai is the famous Pink Tea from Kashmir. It is popular with Kashmiri Islamic individuals and it is a ritual for them to drink it.
As for where I will eat, I will definitely try to hit up as many street vendors as possible as that is often where you can find the most inimitably tasty meals. I will look for restaurant recommendations in my guide site. I will also stride around and get advice on where to eat from people I’ll meet.

Himalaya possesses splendid diversity of wild animals, birds, and plants that can seldom be enjoyed even in India's famous National Parks.

And when I'll return from Himalayas, I shall have my own stories to tell. Apparently, I'll blog about it with lots and lots of pictures. Those will be the memories that I'll grow old with, those will be the memories that I'd invariably cherish till my last breath !

I am eager to go and have fun...

Can’t wait now…!
